Description

We are looking for a technically strong and highly motivated Senior DevOps & Cloud Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our cloud infrastructure - owning CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes cluster operations, infrastructure automation, and cross-functional collaboration with development, security, and SRE teams. You will drive engineering excellence through automation, observability, and GitOps practices across AWS-first, multi-cloud environments. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with clear growth pathways into Staff Engineer or Architecture-focused tracks.

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Mississauga , Canada or be willing to relocate to the area. This position may require travel in Canada.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
• At least 4 years of Information Technology experience.

Required Skills
Cloud Infrastructure & IaC

• Design, provision, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS (primary), Azure, and GCP using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Manage reusable, modular IaC codebases; enforce Terraform state hygiene using S3 backends and DynamoDB locking.
• Architect multi-account AWS environments using Organizations, SCPs, and IAM Identity Center with least-privilege access.
• Implement and manage VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing tables, IAM policies, and DNS configurations.

CI/CD Pipeline Engineering

• Build, optimize, and own CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps.
• Implement GitOps workflows using Argo CD and ApplicationSets for declarative, multi-environment deployments.
• Integrate security scanning tools (Trivy, Clair) into pipelines for automated vulnerability management.
• Reduce deployment failures through blue-green, rolling, and canary release strategies.

Container & Kubernetes Operations

• Operate and scale containerized workloads on Kubernetes (EKS/AKS) with Helm charts, HPA, KEDA, and Cluster Autoscaler.
• Build and optimize multi-stage Docker images; manage container registries and image lifecycle policies.
• Configure service mesh capabilities using AWS App Mesh and Envoy for traffic management and observability.
• Oversee platform availability targets (99.9%+ uptime) with resilient rollout and rollback strategies.

Observability & Incident Response

• Design and maintain monitoring stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, and the ELK Stack (Fluentd + Elasticsearch).
• Implement distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry across microservices to accelerate root-cause analysis.
• Own incident response, post-mortems, and runbook improvements; drive continuous reduction in MTTR.
• Build CloudWatch and Grafana dashboards for real-time platform health visibility.

Security, Compliance & Reliability

• Enforce IAM guardrails, AWS Config rules, CloudTrail auditing, and GuardDuty findings remediation.
• Automate patching and version upgrades for Kubernetes nodes, OS, and application dependencies.
• Design and maintain automated backup and disaster recovery workflows to meet RPO/RTO targets.
• Conduct security reviews and CVE triage in collaboration with the cloud security team.

Developer Experience & Collaboration

• Create internal developer tooling and automation scripts to streamline local development and onboarding.
• Partner with development, QA, SRE, and product teams to continuously improve the software delivery lifecycle.
• Document runbooks, platform guides, and architectural decisions using Confluence and Jira.
• Mentor junior engineers on DevOps best practices, GitOps, and cloud-native patterns.

The job may also entail sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Candidates should be able to effectively communicate by telephone, email, and face to face.
