The Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) software department within Raytheon is looking for a skilled and motivated Software Lead to oversee the development and maintenance of software for the NASAMS Eurobundle program, supporting high-impact deliverables for multiple international customers. The Software Lead will report to the NASAMS Cross Product Team Lead (CPTL) and will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of software deliverables through effective leadership and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
This position is onsite in Tewksbury, MA.
What You Will Do
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, risks and opportunities (R&O), and estimate at completion (EAC) in collaboration with CAM and CPTL.
- Coordinate with NASAMS Software Product Owners to plan and execute scope using agile methodologies.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including the Chief Product Owner (CPO), Systems Engineering (SE), Systems Integration and Test (SI&T), and Life-Cycle Engineering (LCE), to align execution plans.
- Represent Software Engineering in key program meetings, such as Program Management Reviews (PMRs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), and gate reviews.
- Provide ad-hoc support for program proposals and related documentation.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years or prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience managing agile-based software development teams, using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience in full life-cycle software management, from requirements analysis to delivery.
- Experience in real-time, mission-critical development using C/C++.
- Experience tracking and analyzing software development metrics to ensure quality and performance.
- Ability to obtain U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required after start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience managing project or program cost, schedule and risk.
- Experience with Earned Value Management, Risk & Opportunity and/or Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Experience with proposal or capture efforts.
- Raytheon BOE-certified.
- Experience in the development of radar systems and missile technologies, with an understanding of their integration into larger systems.
- Experience with embedded system development, including real-time operating systems (RTOS) and low-level software development.
- Experience in artificial intelligence (AI)-based development, including machine learning (ML) techniques and their application in aerospace and defense systems.
- Experience in mission-critical Command, Control, and Information (C2I) or Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) development.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
