Description
Meta's Reality Labs Wireless Technology team is driving innovation in wearable wireless capabilities for AR/VR devices. We are seeking PhD-level Research Scientist Interns passionate about applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to wireless technologies. Interns will work at the intersection of cutting-edge research, platform development, and practical system integration, contributing to products that reach millions of users worldwide.Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long.Wireless Engineer Intern, Systems (PhD) Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on next-generation AR/VR wireless technologies under complex radio and network conditions
- Develop and integrate AI/ML solutions to optimize wireless performance and enhance user experience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate concepts through analytical studies, simulations, and real-world testing
- Propose new use cases or enhancements for wireless systems and platforms
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms
- Understanding of wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G, RF, antenna systems)
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities
- Works independently and collaboratively in a research-driven environment
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
- Experience with AI/ML applications in wireless system optimization for AR/VR and wearable devices
- Background in cloud, AR, and QoS research as it relates to wireless technologies
- Understanding of consumer hardware development, including RF, antenna, power, and thermal constraints
- Wireless standard knowledge (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G)
- Experience with network-level simulation environments and methodologies
- Familiarity with OTA test methodologies and wireless performance metrics
- Experience with near field to far field transformation techniques for antenna measurement and validation

$6,688/month to $11,467/month + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
