As our next Senior Systems Engineer, you will take on more responsibility and leverage your extensive experience to lead test planning, design, execution, and analysis efforts. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure the performance and reliability of our aerospace and defense systems through rigorous testing and evaluation.
What YOU Will Do:
- Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules aligned with program requirements.
- Define and refine test objectives, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
- Translate complex system and component requirements into detailed test cases.
- Design and oversee functional, integration, performance, and stress test scenarios.
- Select, configure, and validate appropriate test tools, equipment, and environments.
- Conduct and supervise manual and automated test activities in laboratory, simulation, and/or field environments.
- Operate and guide the use of specialized test equipment and instrumentation to validate system performance.
- Document and evaluate results, identifying variances against requirements and providing corrective action recommendations.
- Analyze test data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications, and provide advanced analysis and reporting.
- Prepare and present clear and concise test reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
- Accurately capture, communicate, and manage anomalies, defects, and system behaviors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, software, and systems engineering to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and repeatability.
- Lead continuous improvement of testing methodologies, tools, and standards.
- Ensure adherence to applicable industry, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, MIL-STD, DO-178C).
- Support and lead audits, certifications, and customer verification activities.
Qualifications YOU Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
- Two (2) years of experience with test planning, design, and execution methodologies.
- Two (2) years of industry standards and regulatory compliance (ISO, MIL-STD, DO-178C).
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Two (2) years of experience in test automation tools and scripting languages.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques.
- Certification in relevant industry standards (e.g., ISTQB, CSEP).
- Experience working with customers, end users, hardware design teams, and software design teams.
- Experience performing test and integration functions in lab and field environments.
- Prior experience leading projects or managing teams.
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
