What We Offer
The Production Technician (shift) has defined tasks to run the production facility; they work on a rotating shift in a chemical processing operation.
Major Responsibilities
Operates machines or mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient mode according to operating procedures; involves setting up and, making adjustments to regulate such factors as temperature, pressure, flow and reactions of materials.
Operate and control the unit manually/via process control system; take appropriate corrective action
Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous material handling
Start up and shut down of production facility, product changeover activities
Equipment clearing, cleaning and decontamination
Housekeeping of workplace
Forklift driving
Filling and takeover of tank wagons, loading and unloading railcars and trucks
Proactively promote a safe workplace and safe work practices
Maintain personal training as required
Mitigate unsafe conditions by unit shut down or activating emergency systems
Comply with and follow all site and unit specific safety procedures and requirements
Maintain ethical and compliant behavior as required by corporate standards and guidelines
Comply and follow all site and unit specific environmental procedures and requirements
Routine analytics, taking of samples
Equipment maintenance/repairs in coordination with the technical team
Document and communicate work results (shift handover)
Support troubleshooting of process deviations in cooperation with Shift Supervisor, respond to process deviations using all available means
What You Offer
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with:
An associate degree in applied science from an accredited program OR;
Process Technology certificate OR;
A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in industrial operations OR;
A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in hazardous chemical process operations OR;
An honorably discharged veteran with equivalent military technical or business expertise;
The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Knowledge and Skills:
Good general computer skills
Ability to operate interactive computer systems and platforms
Basic technical, mechanical and chemical knowledge
Ability to solve problems in difficult situation
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Ability to work a rotating shift or other work schedule
Ability to work in noisy environment equal or above 85dB
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Ability to physically perform the required operations in a safe manner
Ability to routinely push, pull or lift at least 50 pounds while performing normal unit operations
Ability to climb stairs and work at heights more than 100 feet
Ability to climb vertical ladders
