Role Summary
We are hiring a Network Architect / FO Specialist Who own the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management and to design of mine-wide communications networks that connect pit-plant-port and underground operations. Who will shape the fiber backbone, private LTE/5G, Wi-Fi/mesh, and leaky-feeder networks; deliver PTP-synchronized, IEC 62443-segmented OT; and integrate IT/OT per ISA-95; all to enable safe, autonomous, and data-driven mining.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Architecture (Pit-Plant-Port & Underground)
- Fiber-Optic (FO) Plant - Design, Build, Assure
- Wireless & Underground Comms
- Reliability, Operations & Tooling
- Safety & Compliance
- 99.99% uptime / network availability
- Mean time to Recovery (MTTR) estimations based on architecture and equipment specifications requirements and familiar with blueprints designs, integration diagrams, cabling layouts.
- Communication and reporting skills (Soft skills)
- OT Security & IT/OT Integration (Segmentation, SOC integration)
- Collaborate with CISO or OT Security to ensure fiber network design complies with segmentation, firewalling, SOC monitoring, etc.
Bachelor's in Electrical/Telecom/Network Engineering (or equivalent); 8-12+ years across IT/OT networking in mining/heavy industry.
Preferred Certifications
IEC 62443 Cybersecurity, CCNP/CCIE, 3GPP/Private LTE/5G vendor certifications, Fiber splicing/OTDR credentials.
Working Conditions
Frequent field work (pits, plants, underground headings) with PPE; on-call during shutdowns and incident response under site MSMS.
Tools & Technology Landscape
- Fiber & Test: G.652.D, G.657.A2, OTDR/OLTS, armored/LSZH per IEC 60794.
- Wireless: Private LTE/5G, Wi-Fi/mesh, leaky feeder.
- Timing: IEEE-1588 PTP profiles.
- Security: IEC 62443 zones & conduits.
- Familiar with network monitoring & analytics tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Observium, PRTG, NetScout)
- For testing purposes Optical Power Meter (OPM) for signal power (dBm), Ligth Source used for loss measurement (Insertion loss test).
