We have an exciting hybrid opportunity for an Associate Director and Counsel, Military Engines!!
The Associate Director and Counsel, Military Engines will be a member of the Military Engines Legal, Contracts and Compliance (LCC) team, which plays a leadership role in the strategic support of Pratt & Whitney's Military Engines (ME) business. The ME business provides a full range of propulsion solutions to the U.S. DoD and allied forces around the world.
What You Will Do:
This is a customer-facing role providing transactional support across all aspects of the P&L but with a focus on Pratt & Whitney's mature fighter engine programs. Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating and advising on complex agreements (both FAR/DFARS-based and commercial) with U.S. and global customers, contract interpretations, local law issues, counterparty disputes, and advising on government contracting regulatory compliance issues. This role is designated as a hybrid role, requiring consistent onsite presence at our East Hartford, CT location two to three times per week.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Juris Doctor Degree with 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years of experience with U.S. government contracting processes and requirements (e.g., FAR, DFARS, Truthful Cost or Pricing Act, Cost Accounting Standards, bid protests)
- A current member in good standing of state bar association and ability to qualify as authorized in-house counsel in Connecticut timely following hire
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems or sites
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including strong executive presence
- Strong leader and team player with excellent judgment and professional maturity
- Multi-task, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and provide guidance and practical solutions to cross-functional projects promptly and effectively
- Work with minimal daily supervision and to balance numerous priorities within compressed timeframes
- Remain calm and composed under pressure, in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing demands
- Identify and assess risk exposure while advising business and functional leaders of the ME team in a practical manner to balance risks with business objectives
- Assist in the development, implementation, enhancement and maintenance of P&W policies, procedures and internal guidance for government contracting compliance
- Experience with negotiation and drafting in connection with complex transactions
- Effectively manage outside counsel for certain significant or complex matters
- Experience with an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred, but not required
- Ability to travel to support business needs

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
