We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering student to join our Tactical Radars & Effectors department in Tucson, Arizona. The Tactical Radars and Effectors department supports the hardware development, production, and deployment of multiple defense products for Tactical Radars, Effectors, Command and Control Systems, and Naval Systems products. The products support domestic US Government customers at multiple Forces and Agencies including the Air Force, Navy, Army, Missile Defense Agency, and the US Coast Guard. The product lines also support multiple international customers through both US Government Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales.
This position is an Onsite role, where you will be working primarily in Tucson, Arizona.
What You Will Do
- Application of mechanical engineering fundamentals to challenging design problems.
- Creation or updates of technical documentation packages.
- Complete drawing designs as required, operates engineering software and equipment, and confers with stakeholders regarding engineering projects.
- Collaboration with hardware engineering teams.
- Mechanical engineering design utilizing CAD software.
- Support to manufacturing and production.
- Application of Raytheon hardware design processes and tools.
Qualifications You Must Have
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2026
- Must be pursuing as Bachelors or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

- Experience with CREO or comparable CAD software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working in teams.
- Results-oriented with good problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
